What is special about this emblematic annual project is its tracking of cultural trends. Every picture from the Pirelli Calendar is an aesthetic revolution. This time, it’s Albert Watson, the author of the celebrated portrait of Alfred Hitchcock with a goose, who for the first time switched his attention from women, who used to dominate in the Pirelli Calendar, to male models. Trends in the art of photography 2019 are displayed as part of an international biennale held in Olga Sviblova’s multimedia art centre.
