Billy’s Band, a music group from St. Petersburg (Russia), is often nicknamed “creators of funerary blues”. Their brand style is based on ironic teasing on a melancholy note. They appear before their spectators as Petersburg-style educated, cynic and slightly tipsy intellectuals. During their “funerary” performances, the artists play funny mise-en-scenes and get loudly applauded for their hoarse voices that have very little in common with conservatory singing. It was by imitating Tom Waits, the band’s idol, that Billy’s Band made its first steps in professional music.© 2016-2020 moscovery.com
