More about Moscow theatres

Guided tours to theatres will be of special interest to those who have already attended theatre performances and are eager to uncover their backstage secrets. A number of Moscow theatres provide you with such an opportunity.

Guided tours to Bolshoi Theatre

Guided tours to the Bolshoi Theatre are in Russian and English and there can be no more than 15 people in a group. Tickets are sold at the box office located in the Theatre’s historical building (Entrance No. 12) on the day of the tour. A queue usually builds up long before the box office opens as many people are curious to find out what the historical Theatre building looks like after major reconstruction. Guided tours to Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre offers a number of overview tours of the Theatre. Tours (in Russian) are offered to adults, students and schoolchildren aged 6+ and the timetable is available in the What’s On section of the Theatre’s official website. You can also use your debit card there to pay for your ticket.

Guided tours to Helikon Opera Musical Theatre

The Moscow Helikon Opera Musical Theatre also gives you the opportunity to find out more about this theatre by means of guided tours. It has recently returned to the gorgeous mansion on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, newly opened after a long historical reconstruction. Guided tours are 1.5 hours long and are available daily starting at 3 pm. Tour tickets are sold at the theatre’s box office.

Guided tours to Moscow Art Theatre

The Moscow Art Theatre also offers guided tours in Russian and English. Tickets can be purchased only from its box office. Visitors will not only be shown around the theatre building, but will also have a look at dressing rooms and the local museum. The maximum number of people in a group is 15, so it is a good idea to call the theatre’s box office and check the availability of tour tickets.

Other musical and drama theatres in Moscow also offer guided tours and always provide the relevant information on their official websites. We strongly recommend you join such a tour – finding out how an art workshop works from inside is truly an unforgettable theatre experience!
