The great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Marius Petipa, a Russian choreographer of French origin, were the two men of genius who created the internationally famous ballet Swan Lake. This coming season, the New Opera will be staging this enchanting tale, directed by Valentin Grishchenko who is known for his caring interpretations of classic works. The scenario, based on old German folktales, tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by the evil magician Rothbart.
